I’ve always been fascinated by the ability of different types of human emotions to have different levels or nuances. I mean, it’s not that I know how to read emotions, I just find it fascinating that there are so many different shades of gray.
This is why I love reading about the psychology of our favorite video games. What the developers of Vault Girl have done to the game is to give some of the player’s favorite emotions a face. In fact, all of the emotions are given a face. A little face. Its not just some generic “happy, sad, angry, hungry” face. Its not a generic “cool face”. Its a face made out of something that has a lot of different emotions in it.
There are two points to this. The first is that we are often so consumed with our own needs that we forget the needs of others, which, in turn, allows them to forget us. The second is that there is no “perfect” face. We all have faces. I am a young woman with a pretty face. There is nothing wrong with me. I am happy. I even smile sometimes. I am not perfect, but I don’t make my face look like something else.
